Until 1999, only a limited number of New Testaments were available in the Nuer language. Now the entire Bible has been translated and published. However, many Nuer-speaking people, especially the refugees in Ethiopia, Kenya, and the United States, cannot afford the United Bible Society’s Nuer Bible.

This project originated with the Lutheran churches in Sudan and Ethiopia. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sudan and the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus recognize the importance of the Holy Bible as the primary resource for church planting and leadership training!

LCMS World Mission will help these churches and Sudanese congregations in the United State to distribute 5,000 copies of the Nuer Bible in 2000 and 2001. You know how valuable it is for you to be able to read and study your bible in your own language. Your opportunity is to enable Neur-speaking people in Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and the United States, to read and study God’s Word, many for the very first time, in their own language!
